when to nix the nap?

Everyday around 1:00ish I give Lacey a sippy cup of water and into bed she goes. Nine days out of ten she is asleep within 10 minutes. I generally wake her up at 3:00.

But she won't sleep at night. We've tried pushing back her bedtime, having a longer wind-down routine, waking her up earlier from her naps etc. Nothing seems to work. She generally goes to bed around 8:30 but doesn't fall asleep until sometime between 9:30 and 10:00.

Of course she is sleeping in longer than she used to as well.

I'm not sure what to do. The only thing we haven't tried is cutting out her nap all together. But I love double nap time. Plus, she falls asleep so easily it's easy to presume that she still needs the nap.

She's barely two. She still needs a nap.

Definitely open to suggestions.

My daughter is 2 1/2 and still takes her naps (although when she is with her father, he seems to think she doesn't need them). Now during winter break, she usually wakes up around 7-7:30 in the morning. Then sometime by about 1 she goes down for her nap (give or take a little depending on what we're doing that day). She used to sleep until 3, sometimes 3:30 and occasionally on an extremely tired day until 4! Now, she's averaging about an hour and a half for her naps, and if I'm super lucky she will sleep for 2 hrs. She typically goes to bed between 8 and 8:30pm. During school semesters for me, the routine is different: she's usually up by 6am, naps at school from 11:30am-1pm, and is usually in bed by 8.

I, too, am wondering about this whole nap thing. She has started SERIOUS stalling at bedtime and I swear it's like a scene out of Super Nanny! I walk out of her room after kisses, stories, etc, and lately it's been at least an hour before she finally gives it up and goes to sleep. I'm wondering if it's that her nap is too long or if it's just that she's 2 1/2 and testing. I don't know. I really wish there were manuals for stuff like this!

Good luck!!
